Mollusks and Metal

I've been back in Yakima visiting my mom and Buddy and Sam. Cass is moving out and I think that he's going to pay for all the bills he didn't pay for, so that's good news. My mom and I went to the Seattle Aquarium, which was sweet. The Pacific Octopus was actually out squishing around the tank instead of hiding. Thing is massive.

My enthusiasm for mollusks has gained momentum and I am now the proud owner of 5 air-breathing land slugs, of two species, the Great Grey slug (limax maximus) and the European Red Slug (arion rufus.) Among the names I've given them are Slurmz, Jabba, and Boris (Grishenko, "better luck next time, slugheads!" ha.)

I'm in this mood where, I haven't been this crazy about animals since I was 10 years old. Last night, Sam and Seth and I putzed around the yard for like an hour looking for slugs and beetles under rocks. Sam caught a beetle which he's named Don Cheadle the Beetle. Hee Hee.
Every new species of animal I see that would be feasible to keep and breed makes me want to. I guess that's what having an aquarium will do to you. In the middle of the night those slugs really get moving, and I've noticed that the larger ones are carniverous. I'm thinking about constructing a slug Thunderdome of sorts.

Another thing I'm considering building is a mossery, a terrarium filled with different kinds of mosses. I guess I'm just enthused about vivariums of all kinds lately.
